Stunning vintage earrings with blue-tinted moonstones set in castellated crown-shaped gold mounts. The natural moonstone cabochons have a lovely cat's eye chatoyancy - the luminous glowing optical effect from reflected light moving beneath the surface. Not to be confused with the more commonly found "rainbow moonstone" which is actually not moonstone but white labradorite.
• Condition: In excellent vintage condition. The moonstones, likely hand polished, are unique in shape, colour and size.
• Fixing: Integral gold wires, supplied with tiny silicone "keepers" to pop over the ends for security.
• Hallmarks/stamps: None found; the earrings are unmarked but have been tested as at least nine-carat gold.
• Era: Estimated mid 20th century.
• Size: The moonstones are approximately 7 x 9mm diameter and 8mm deep including the settings.
• Weight: 1.9g.
