These pretty gold flower drop earrings are set with beautiful blue-tinted moonstone cabochons mounted in solid 20-carat gold. The natural moonstone cabochons have a lovely blue adularescence - the luminous glowing optical effect from reflected light moving beneath the surface. Vintage moonstones are hard to source and it's rare to find them in a richly coloured high-carat gold like this.
• Condition: The earrings are in very good vintage condition but one of the lower moonstones has a chip top front and bottom back, see magnified photo, it's not evident to the naked eye and the gem is firmly set into its bezel.
• Fixing: Posts and nine-carat (375) gold butterfly scrolls.
• Hallmarks/stamps: None (tested as 20CT), the butterflies are marked 9CT.
• Era: Estimated late 20th century.
• Size: 3.5 x 1cm.
