Deep glowing red 19th century garnet clusters, each with three teardrop-shaped cabochons surrounded by rose-cut gems to make a pair of ivy leaves. For the Victorians, well versed in the language of flowers, the ivy represented enduring love, whether that of a deep friendship or a romance. The earrings started life as some other form of jewel and were converted with the addition of nine-carat gold wires.

• Condition: Very good antique condition.

• Fixing: Nine-carat (375) gold ear wires.

• Era: Victorian (1837-1901) with later wires.

• Size: 3.2cm drop from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the drop. The drops measure 2 x 2.2cm.

• Weight: 6.7g.

PLEASE NOTE! All items are vintage or antique and as such show light general wear appropriate to their age. Bear in mind photos are very magnified and flaws which can be seen in the pictures are often imperceptible to the naked eye in real life. I always do my very best to point out any additional flaws, but please look carefully at all the photos as they are an important part of the listing - and do ask if you have any questions!
