Lovely quality vintage earrings in 18-carat yellow gold, each designed with a single fiery opal in a halo of 12 brilliant-cut diamonds. Approximately 0.72 carats in total, the diamonds are bright and very sparkly, while the bezel-set opals have excellent colour, predominantly blue and green with pink and orange flashes. Complete with silk-lined Mappin and Webb presentation case - although the maker's marks are too worn to be legible, the quality, design and construction of the earrings, not to mention the box, are consistent with Mappin & Webb pieces and I believe them to have been made by Mappin & Webb.
• Condition: In excellent vintage condition.
• Fixing: Solid 18-carat gold butterflies.
• Hallmarks/stamps: Each earring is hallmarked for 18-carat gold on the post.
• Era: 1987.
• Size: 1cm diameter. The opals measure approx 5mm and the diamonds 2mm.
