Fantastic rare Georgian paste flower earrings in solid silver, backed with nine-carat rose gold. In the 18th and early 19th centuries, Georgian jewellers would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds as they glittered in the candlelight.

• Condition: The earrings are in very good antique condition; when seen under magnification, two of the pastes do not have black dots and are likely later replacements, though they are matching old single cuts and seem to have been in place for a very long time.

• Fixing: Integral nine-carat gold ear wires, supplied with tiny silicone keepers to pop on the ends for security.

• Era: Georgian, c.1714-1837.

• Size: Just over 3cm long (one hangs slightly lower) and approximately 1.5cm wide.

• Weight: 5.8g.

PLEASE NOTE! All items are vintage or antique and as such show light general wear appropriate to their age. Bear in mind photos are very magnified and flaws which can be seen in the pictures are often imperceptible to the naked eye in real life. I always do my very best to point out any additional flaws, but please look carefully at all the photos as they are an important part of the listing - and do ask if you have any questions!
